Gnosis is the Greek term for knowledge. Nous is the root-word for noosphere, “the sphere of thought.” Christ was viewed as the personification of Nous (Divine Mind).
The Church denounced Gnostic Christians as heresy because they emphasized personal spiritual knowledge over the orthodox teachings, traditions and authority of the church.
Christ Consciousness was the redemption of humanity through descent of the Nous.
"There where is the nous, lies the treasure."
