Immune System

Immune System

Our Immune system is inborn and adaptive, and part of our lymphatic system. C-section babies have impaired immune systems, which makes them more vulnerable to infections.

The first line of defense is our skin and mucus membranes (nose, throat, tonsils, adenoids). Lymph nodes are all over the body. The spleen is one of many blood filters.

Our thymus gland is also part of the endocrine hormone system which helps prevent autoimmune disorders. It is the adaptive part of the immune system that can change or alter hormones to produce an immunological memory that provides long-lasting protection.
