SCRIPTURE INTERPRETATION

Sadducee > They were secular upper-class nobility and believed in the written Torah. Did not believe in the supernatural and had a Hellenistic viewpoint with total free will.

Pharisee > They were literal and believed in the oral Torah, resurrection and the afterlife. Common people like the merchants and businessmen. Some free will but destiny was controlled by God.

Essene > Believed in the prophet Moses and predestination.
